A domestic R&D team has recently made a major breakthrough in overcoming the high-temperature resistance limitations of fluoroelastomers. The newly developed high-performance sealing rings have passed certification by authoritative institutions, demonstrating a significant increase in their long-term stable operating temperature—from the conventional 200°C to 250°C—with short-term peak tolerance reaching as high as 280°C.
This breakthrough achievement is attributed to innovative molecular structure design and nano-composite reinforcement technology. By precisely constructing a heat-resistant network within the fluoroelastomer matrix and incorporating special high-temperature resistant nano-fillers, the team has effectively suppressed thermal degradation and hardening embrittlement under extreme temperatures. After a continuous 1,000-hour high-temperature endurance test, the new sealing rings showed a reduction in compression set by over 40%, while maintaining excellent sealing performance and medium resistance.
This technological advancement has been successfully applied in critical sealing positions in areas such as new energy vehicle battery thermal management systems, semiconductor high-temperature process equipment, and aerospace. Early application data indicate that the maintenance cycles for related equipment operating under high-temperature conditions have been extended by an average of more than three times.
Industry experts point out that this technology not only addresses a technical gap in ultra-high-temperature elastic sealing materials domestically but also provides crucial foundational component support for high-end equipment manufacturing moving toward more extreme temperatures and harsher operating conditions. It signifies that China's specialized sealing material technology has entered the ranks of international advanced standards.
